Licensing Strategy Built on Real-World Execution
About CPG Licensing
CPG Licensing is a CPG and food-and-beverage brand licensing consulting firm that helps consumer brands identify, structure, and execute licensing opportunities that create new revenue, expand market reach, and strengthen long-term brand equity.
Built by an Operator
The firm was founded by Phil Gorman, Founder and CEO of Snack Iconic, a consumer-products company that develops and markets innovative snacks in partnership with some of the world’s most recognized food and consumer brands.
Through his leadership of Snack Iconic, Phil has developed licensing partnerships and initiatives with multibillion-dollar corporations including McCormick & Company, Conagra Brands, Mars, Bimbo Bakeries USA, Danone, and The Clorox Company. These relationships have involved iconic brands across seasonings, bakery, confectionery, salty snacks, and other consumer products.
That operator’s perspective is what sets CPG Licensing apart.
From Opportunity to Commercialization
Phil’s experience extends far beyond identifying brands and making introductions. He has led licensing opportunities through the full commercialization process, including category strategy, partner outreach, contract negotiations, product development, manufacturing, packaging, brand approvals, retail presentations, distribution planning, and market launch.
We understand that brand recognition alone does not guarantee a successful extension. A licensing opportunity must feel authentic to the consumer, fit naturally with the brand, work economically for both parties, and give retailers a compelling reason to put the product on the shelf.
CPG Licensing works with established consumer brands, emerging companies, restaurant concepts, manufacturers, investors, and organizations seeking to create or expand licensing programs. Our services include licensing opportunity assessments, category and product strategy, partner identification, commercial modeling, deal support, product-development guidance, and fractional licensing leadership.
Our approach is grounded in commercial reality. We help companies determine where their brands have a credible right to win, identify partners with the capabilities to execute, and build programs that can become sustainable businesses—not simply short-term collaborations.
Understanding Both Sides of the Table
We understand both sides of the licensing relationship. Brand owners need capable partners who will protect their trademarks, meet development commitments, and deliver commercially meaningful products. Licensees need realistic economics, clearly defined rights, efficient approval processes, and enough flexibility to build successful product lines.
The best licensing partnerships create value for the brand owner, the licensee, the retailer, and the consumer. The objective is not simply to place a familiar name on another product. It is to create thoughtful brand extensions that reinforce what the brand represents while opening meaningful new avenues for growth.
Whether you are evaluating your first licensing opportunity, responding to an unsolicited proposal, or developing a broader licensing strategy, CPG Licensing can help move your opportunity from concept to commercialization.
